Spring has arrived in southern Styria over the past few days. But our homeland is often not a pretty sight at this time of year. The careless discarding of waste in the countryside disfigures the landscape, has a major impact on people and animals and causes very high costs when it is removed. Reason enough for the more than 100 young recruits from Vienna and Lower Austria, who have been doing their basic military service at Jägerbataillon 17 in Straß since the beginning of March, to take part in this year’s big spring clean-up organized by the province of Styria. Alongside local authorities, schools and clubs, the soldiers from Straß are also setting a good example and supporting this campaign for a clean environment.
