How the Austrian drone manufacturer Schiebel recently announced that the company has landed a significant order from the Greek Navy for eight Camcopter S-100 UAS.

According to a Schiebel message on X (formerly Twitter), the procurement program was approved at a meeting of the Greek government’s National Security Council under Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

During the same meeting, the Greek government also finalized the the long-planned purchase of F-35 fighter jets from manufacturer Lockheed Martin. In a first batch, 20 conventional take-off and landing (CTOL) versions of the F-35A are to be procured as part of a foreign military sale by the US government at a price of around 3.5 billion euros. The jets will be delivered from 2028. Greece has also included an option in the contract to procure a further 20 aircraft.
