At the beginning of the year, FMV, the Swedish Defense Materiel Administration, ordered two new workboats from Arstilleros Armon Vigo AS two new workboats for the Swedish armed forces. At the end of November, the “Start of Steel Cutting” ceremony for the first vessel took place at the supplier’s steel processing facilities in Spain.
“Production is now underway, which is of course an important and exciting step in this project,” said Susanne Nordman, Project Manager at FMV, who attended the ceremony. The two new workboats have a displacement of around 1,000 tons, will be approximately 50 meters long and eleven meters wide. The two ships also offer additional diving capabilities. According to the contract, delivery to the Swedish armed forces is planned for 2027 and 2028.
