Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) has contracted MBDA to integrate the Mistral ATAM air defense missile system into the Korean Marine Attack Helicopter (KMAH).
Eric Béranger, CEO of MBDA, commented: “We are proud to work again with Korea Aerospace Industries to arm a Korean military aircraft. This contract reinforces Mistral ATAM’s position as the world’s leading helicopter-borne air defense missile system.” Mistral ATAM is based on the Mistral short-range air defense missile, known for its “fire-and-forget” firing mode, ease of operation and reliable kill probability. The ATAM system comprises two launchers per helicopter, each carrying two missiles. Portable Mistral air defense systems are also in service with the armed forces of the Republic of Korea. MBDA and KAI are also working together to integrate the Meteor missile into the KF-21 Boromae fighter aircraft.
