After a knife attack on a woman in Klagenfurt, Vice Lieutenant Rudolf S., a medical sergeant, provided first aid until the arrival of the emergency services. The officer was on the scene immediately after the perpetrator fled and provided first aid to the seriously injured victim (several stab wounds) until the ambulance arrived. The woman is being treated in hospital and is out of danger.

I am proud of Vice-Lieutenant Rudolf S. and thank him for his courageous intervention in this life-threatening situation. With your swift and professional actions, you have impressively demonstrated that the Austrian Armed Forces are there to protect our population in any situation.” Vice-Lieutenant Rudolf S. “I see it as my duty and a matter of course to provide first aid in any situation!” Vice-Lieutenant Rudolf S. is a training sergeant at the South Medical Center in Klagenfurt and is responsible for training recruits for several weeks who are intended for service as paramedics in various areas. Every year, 300 conscripts and over 100 professional soldiers are trained for their service as paramedics in the training company at the Southern Medical Center.
