Once again this year, the Officers’ Ball in Salzburg captivated numerous guests. On January 31, more than 800 visitors from the worlds of politics, business, culture and the military gathered in the magnificent halls of the officers’ mess in the Schwarzenberg barracks. The traditional event offered a festive stage for dance enthusiasts as well as a platform for social exchange and convivial celebrations.
Festive opening and lively program
Brigadier Peter Schinnerl, the military commander of Salzburg, kicked off the festivities with his opening speech. The Seifter dance school then opened the ball with a stylish polonaise before the guests took to the dance floor.
The evening offered a varied program full of highlights and surprises: While the dance orchestra of the Salzburg Military Music provided first-class musical accompaniment in the ballroom, “DJ Daniel” got the dance floor shaking in the ball disco until the early hours of the morning. The Pioneer Bar, run by the Salzburg Pioneers, was very busy and reached the limits of its capacity.
The rousing show act by the “Irish Factory SBG” shortly before midnight was met with particular enthusiasm. The midnight interlude, hosted by Lieutenant Colonel Werner Geosits, reached a lively climax with the audience quadrille led by “Dance Master Niki Seifert”, which got the ballroom shaking.
The guests were treated to two lavish buffets prepared with great dedication by the chefs and their team. As every year, the net proceeds from the event are donated to a social cause – a sign that tradition and social commitment go hand in hand at the Officers’ Ball.
