During the night from Friday to Saturday, the Ukrainian armed forces successfully attacked important Russian defense industry enterprises such as JSC Optical Fiber Systems and Photon Tech System LLC in Saransk.

Lyuty drones and light aircraft carrying FAB aerial bombs under the fuselage were presumably used. The presumably unmanned aircraft had to cover a distance of at least 700 to 800 kilometers from Ukraine – in practice, however, significantly more, as the flight path is routed through the gaps in the Russian air defence system according to the reconnaissance. On the Ukrainian side, AI-controlled AI-controlled navigation systems are now being used on the Ukrainian side.

JSC Optical Fiber Systems produces according to available information:

  • Optical signal amplifiers for the transmission of high-quality video from drones (especially FPV drones) when fiber optic communication channels are used.
  • Radiation and heat resistant gyroscopes (for navigation systems) – the ability to withstand extreme conditions makes such gyroscopes suitable for: Missile warheads exposed to significant temperature and radiation stresses; navigation systems of fighter aircraft, helicopters and missiles, including unmanned aerial vehicles (attack and reconnaissance systems) and satellites.
  • Photonic radars – radar systems whose signals are transported by light and processed using optical components. These offer higher resolution and sensitivity than conventional radars, enabling more accurate target detection even of slow, low-flying and small targets (including small drones) – especially in electromagnetically complex environments.

According to media reports, the company used Western devices, in particular products from the Austrian company Rosendahl Nextrom GmbH, as well as Chinese systems from the company Vacree.

The company will have six production lines with a daily volume of 12,000 kilometers. It is the only manufacturer of such fiber optic systems in Russia.
