KNDS has formally renamed its group companies Nexter Systems S. A. and Krauss-Maffei Wegmann GmbH & Co. KG with effect from April 8. Krauss-Maffei Wegmann is now trading as KNDS Deutschland and Nexter Systems as KNDS France. The company also announced full order books: Compared to the previous year, incoming orders increased by more than 130 percent in 2023.
This puts KNDS at the top of the 15 largest European defense companies in terms of order growth. The main drivers of the KNDS order intake of EUR 7.8 billion were the Leopard 2A8 programs, additional orders as part of an existing infantry fighting vehicle program, orders for Caesar artillery systems and an expanding demand for ammunition of all calibres. KNDS’ order backlog amounted to EUR 15.7 billion at the end of 2023. The turnover of KNDS grew by 2.5% to 3.3 billion euros in the 2023 financial year. This resulted primarily from the delivery of Leopard 2 main battle tanks and 2000 self-propelled howitzers, the delivery of vehicles as part of the Scorpion program and the supply of artillery ammunition to European armies. https://militaeraktuell.at/verbesserungen-fuer-grundwehrdiener-kommen/ As part of the official renaming, the names of the German, French, British, Italian and Belgian subsidiaries of KNDS France and KNDS Deutschland have also been legally adjusted. The name changes for all other subsidiaries of the Group will be completed by the end of 2024. The previous brand names were already replaced by the KNDS brand in June 2023. The legal name changes required special coordination with authorities, customers and suppliers. They were therefore implemented in a second step.
