Command Materiel and IT (COMMIT), the Dutch military procurement organization, has signed a contract for the purchase of seven additional Thales Ground Master 200 Multi-Mission Compact Radars (GM200 MM/C) with an option for two more systems. The Netherlands already ordered nine GM 200 MM/C radars from Thales in 2019.

The GM200 MM/C was developed for multi-mission warfare. It combines the detection of small, fast and maneuverable targets at long range with high mobility and a short deployment time. Equipped with the new generation of 4D Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) technology and “Dual-Axis Multi-Beam” technology, which offers flexibility in terms of height and bearing, the radar provides outstanding protection in the theater of operations.

The GM200 MM/C enables the simultaneous detection, tracking and classification of multiple drones, RAM (Rockets, Artillery and Mortar), missiles, aircraft and helicopters, making it suitable for weapons detection, aerial surveillance and air defense. Gerben Edelijn, CEO of Thales Netherlands, said: “We very much appreciate that the Royal Netherlands Armed Forces have confirmed their confidence in the GM200 MM/C by purchasing seven additional systems, two of which are available as options. Thales is proud to support the security of the military and to contribute to the air sovereignty of European NATO-states.” https://militaeraktuell.at/general-brieger-zu-gast-in-ungarn/ Thales presented the first GM200 MM/C series aircraft to the Dutch Ministry of Defense back in March. For the Dutch armed forces, the radar system is mounted on a vehicle, the Scania Gryphus truck. The design was developed in collaboration with the Dutch army. With a range of up to 400 kilometers, the system contributes to the protection of Dutch airspace. At the target location itself, the GM200 MM/C can be operational within a minute. Jarno Ursum, project manager at COMMIT, said: “The Dutch Ministry of Defense has great confidence in the capabilities of this new radar. With this additional procurement, we are continuing the close cooperation with Thales that was the basis for the development of this radar.”
