Around 1,000 guests and relatives gathered at Vogler Air Base on Friday to witness the ceremonial swearing-in of a total of 424 young soldiers.
Accompanied by the sounds of the Upper Austrian military band, the families and friends of the recruits were impressed by the festive setting of the event. The enlisted soldiers began their service in the Hörsching barracks on January 7 and officially end their basic training with the pledge.
In the coming months, they will serve in the Hörsching, Wels, Ried and Freistadt garrisons.
The military commander of Upper Austria, Brigadier Dieter Muhr, and the governor of Upper Austria, Thomas Stelzer, addressed greetings to the soldiers.
After the ceremony, the soldiers and their families were served a traditional goulash to bring the special occasion to a fitting close.
