A change of leadership took place at the St. Johann i.T. Army Logistics Center on 1 October. Due to the strict requirements for holding military events in the Covid situation, the ceremony was reduced to the essentials without the public. The Deputy Commander of the Armed Forces Base, Brigadier Siegfried Bognar, relieved Colonel Hermann Tischler of command and symbolically handed over leadership responsibility for the Army Logistics Center to Major Thomas Preissler in the form of a key.

The St. Johann i.T. Army Logistics Centre specializes in the maintenance and repair of field kitchens and all field cooking and alpine equipment. The in-house carpentry workshop also manufactures furniture for the armed forces.

In particular, the logistics center is responsible for supplying the troops of the Austrian Armed Forces with economic and supply goods such as parts of the mountain module of the combat suit 03, the entire mountain equipment and the field cooking equipment. The carpentry workshop also manufactures and assembles equipment. It is also the center of expertise for alpine equipment in the Austrian Armed Forces with the task of examining the current market for mountain equipment and carrying out tests together with the mountain troops. Young people can also complete an apprenticeship here for operational logisticians and carpenters.

“My attachment to the St. Johann i.T. Army Logistics Center and its staff has developed and grown through many years of contact, eleven years as the economic officer of the 6th Mountain Brigade and the last 17 months as the economic officer of the Tyrol Military Command,” said Major Preissler, the new commander, in his inaugural speech. His aim is to continue to supply the troops of the Austrian Armed Forces with economic and supply goods as quickly as possible and to carry out repairs to the mountain equipment and field cooking equipment in order to ensure their operational capability.
