Latvia has started the production of armored Patria 6×6 armored vehicles for Ukraine (-> current news from the Ukraine war) has begun. The first batch is currently being assembled at the Valmiera plant.

Production is based on a joint venture between Patria and the Latvian company Unitruck, with the bodies being assembled locally from scratch – a significant step for the Latvian defense industry.

The production complex in Valmiera, which opened in May 2024 is designed to produce up to 30 infantry fighting vehicles per year. In August 2024, the first the first Patria 6×6 vehicle produced in Latvia was delivered to the Latvian armed forces.

As part of a 40 million euro military aid package, further weapons and equipment are to be delivered to Ukraine this year in addition to a number of vehicles.
