At the Röthenbach site of Diehl Defence the foundation stone was laid today for a further building complex as part of a comprehensive site development. Diehl Defence CEO Helmut Rauch, together with Dominik Clément, CEO of Diehl Energy Products (DEP), hosted the event to mark this important milestone in the company’s development.
The foundation stone ceremony at the Röthenbach site took place on the construction site where the new premises of the subsidiary DEP and a parking garage will be built. The building for DEP will go into operation after the turn of the year and will comprise over 7,000 square meters of space on the first floor for development, production and logistics as well as over 3,700 square meters of space on the upper floor for offices and a roof terrace. The new building thus offers space for 120 employees. With over 600 parking spaces, the multi-storey parking lot will serve the entire site and will be completed by mid-2024.
Diehl Defence has been going through a phase of strong growth for several years, which has been reinforced since 2022 by the “turnaround” proclaimed by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz. The company has therefore begun to massively expand its infrastructure at all locations in order to be able to meet the growing needs of its customers with the necessary capacity. In addition to the construction of the parking garage and the new DEP building, further buildings for administration, production, integration, logistics and the testing of systems, as well as education and training will be built at Diehl Defence in Röthenbach by the end of 2026. The company is investing a total of several hundred million euros at all locations in measures to cope with the forecast growth. In addition to construction projects, this also includes expenditure on production facilities. The workforce at Diehl Defence will soon increase to more than 4,000 employees in the course of growth. The Röthenbach site currently accounts for more than 1,000 of these.
