Outer-Limits not only provides solutions for diving special forces in the form of products and training. The experts from Burgenland also regularly invite members of international units to Grundlsee to get to know and try out new equipment. Militär Aktuell visited the Outer Limits Experience Week 2024.

Divers from what felt like half the world came together for the twelfth Outer Limits Experience Week at Grundlsee in Styria to dive for almost an entire week. Of those participants who did not conceal their association background, police units in particular were clearly in the majority.

There was equipment from numerous manufacturers to test in the exhibition tent. We have summarized some of the highlights in the photo galleries below. Outer-Limits naturally had its own stand with equipment for diving and boarding. The Burgenland-based company works in a user-oriented manner and is particularly keen to provide complete solutions. One example of this is the comprehensively packed and waterproof Medic backpack, which is a complete waterproof solution for diving medics.

Diycon are once again attracting attention with their thermal fusion goggles (-> We reported on this from the Enforce Tac 2024). The goggles combine all the data from the sensors: Thermal, night and daylight. With the DNVC-6 Mono, the multi-spectral technology is now also suitable for diving, which was tested by some on site. Control via app (WLAN) is also possible. Further developments are being worked on, for example for AI-controlled bomb detection (EOD detection).

SR Tactical’s plate carriers, which are designed to achieve a balance between ease of use, durability and low weight, were well represented in many of the test dives. The company has been supplying innovative solutions for more than ten years. Development is constantly being driven forward in the company’s own prototype workshop. The company also reacts quickly to current requirements, including for use on the mainland: one lesson learned from the trench warfare in Ukraine is that magazine pouches increasingly need to be available in closed versions again.

The Kraka speedboat from Soal in Sweden was a particular eye-catcher at the Outer Limits Experience Week. Designed for “last mile transport”, the boat offers something special: it is available in three sizes and – depending on the model – can handle a load of 400 to 1,000 kilograms. This means that a great deal is possible, from transporting a crew to moving a quad bike.

The boat is inflated in just ten seconds and the battery can also be replaced in a very short time, regardless of whether the boat is on water or on land. Several driving modes, including a stealth mode, can be selected. According to observations on the lake, the driving technique is quickly learned.

The Kraka boat can also be dismantled quickly: Once the control element with battery has been removed, the air is released, which only takes about half a minute. Fully foldable, the boat is quickly stowed away.

Maraneo also showcased innovative products. Together with operators, a drive system was developed for the diver and his “last mile” in use (low and mid-range). Major advantages of the M2 Advanced diver propulsion system: the arms are free, the control is very fine and the direct drive is mounted on the leg. In addition, the propeller can be quickly removed in an emergency.

Rotinor provided the Black Shadow diving scooter and the Divejet RD2 for testing. Powered by an e-jet power system, it runs almost silently.

The underwater X-ray device from Novo DR is unique to date. The device can be calibrated immediately via touchscreen and the data captured underwater can be manipulated to obtain the best possible image. Among other things, booby traps can be detected in this way.

Skyoltec produces solutions for tactical access and abseiling not only for land-based use, but also for maritime use. Harpoons and telescopic forks for rapid boarding are just as much a part of this as climbing harnesses and the associated hardware as well as breaking equipment. The portfolio of power ascenders (rope winches), which are available in several versions, is also striking.

Olympia Triumph presented boarding equipment, including a telescopic pole that is submersible and has inflatable elements.

The next Outer Limits Experience Week is scheduled for 2026.
