The “Festival Opening Ceremony” was co-organized by the Salzburg Military Music under the direction of military bandmaster Johann Schernthanner. The renowned orchestra presented a multi-faceted program and demonstrated its high musical level in the courtyard of the Alte Residenz.
The Salzburg Military Music was part of a diverse program with a total of 85 events at 31 different venues. From first-class music to impressive plays and readings, film screenings, exhibitions, dance performances and fascinating guided tours, the day offered visitors a multifaceted insight into the world of the Festival.
The people of Salzburg and guests of the Festival took this opportunity to get in the mood for this year’s Festival summer and take a look behind the scenes of the renowned event. The Festival opening was undoubtedly an unforgettable experience that united art, culture and music in an impressive way. The Salzburg Military Music and all the other artists contributed to making this extraordinary day a true “feast for the senses”.
