New professional task for Brigadier Siegward Schier: The former commander of the 4th Armored Infantry Brigade has been appointed as the future Head of Management of the University of Applied Sciences and Deputy Head of Directorate 3. He will be appointed to his new role as soon as possible.
Brigadier Schier (-> Interview with Militär Aktuell) graduated from the Theresian Military Academy as an armored infantryman in 1998 and mustered out to the 13th Armored Infantry Battalion in Ried. In 2006 he completed the 17th General Staff Course and in 2013 he graduated from the Command and General Staff College in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas (USA).
Brigadier Schier also completed missions abroad in Kosovo, was entrusted with the command of Pioneer Battalion 3 in Melk, had assignments in the Ministry of Defense and was head of unit, chief lecturer and researcher in the field of leadership theory at the National Defence Academy. In 2018, he was promoted to commander of the 4th Armored Infantry Brigade.
In his new function, Brigadier Schier will be deputy to Major General Karl Schmidseder, who has been appointed as the new head of Directorate 3.
