BAE Systems has received FMS (Foreign Military Sales) contracts worth 105 million euros from the US Army for the AN/AAR-57 Common Missile Warning Systems (CMWS). This is a standard missile warning and hostile fire detection system for aircraft, which is now also to be supplied to US allies.

CMWS is a combat-proven missile warning system for rotorcraft and fixed-wing aircraft that integrates missile warning, hostile fire indication and countermeasures control. It is compatible with BAE Systems’ AN/ALE-47 Airborne Countermeasures Dispenser System and Smart D Countermeasures System, as well as laser-based, directional infrared countermeasures systems. Nations now acquiring the systems will deploy the CMWS on AH-64 Apache, CH-47 Chinook and UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters, among others. https://militaeraktuell.at/wien-oebh-investiert-in-die-kasernen-infrastruktur/ “Battlefields are increasingly contested, and air forces around the world must be able to detect and counter advanced infrared threats. When stealth is not an option, CMWS provides a protective shield that enables aircraft survivability and mission accomplishment,” said Jennifer Bartley, deputy product line manager for Integrated Survivability Solutions at BAE Systems.
