In episode 82 of the podcast “Sicherheitshalber”, journalist Thomas Wiegold, security expert Ulrike Franke, military expert Frank Sauer and political scientist Carlo Masala talk about neutral states in Europe – and also a lot about Austria.
Sweden and Finland, two countries that had previously described themselves as non-aligned or neutral, recently joined NATO have recently joined NATO. However, Austria, Ireland, Malta and Cyprus remain members despite the Ukraine war four EU member states continue to adhere to their neutrality. In the second part of the podcast, Carlo Masala reports from the Enquete Commission “Lessons from Afghanistan for Germany’s future networked engagement”, of which he is a member. The commission recently presented its interim report.
