“With the current national defence budget, we are able to carry out the long-needed modernization of equipment for our soldiers at many levels. I am therefore delighted to be able to hand over the new soldiers’ radios to the troops of the 7th Jäger Brigade today. We are investing 12.2 million euros here to put communication on a modern footing. The radios will already be used during the upcoming large-scale exercise ‘Schutzschild 24’ and thus represent an increase in combat effectiveness for the forces equipped with them,” said Defense Minister Klaudia Tanner.

A total of 2,530 military radios with headsets and integrated hearing protection were procured following a tender and competition. One device weighs 250 grams.

The 7th and 6th mountain brigades will initially be equipped with this ultra-modern and easy-to-use radio equipment. In addition, a further 2,000 devices will be procured to equip the 3rd Jäger Brigade and militia soldiers.

This equipment significantly increases the combat effectiveness of the soldiers and not only provides them with the best possible hearing protection on the battlefield, but also enables them to communicate safely and clearly.
