Skydweller and Thales are intensifying their cooperation by integrating the Air Master-S radar from Thales into the unmanned aircraft MAPS from Skydweller. The radar is equipped with artificial intelligence and adapts autonomously to specific flight conditions.
The MAPS drone from Skydweller has a payload capacity of up to 400 kilograms and can fly for weeks to months without interruption. Thales equips the MAPS platform with the Air Master-S radar system, which is suitable for months of operation of the Skydweller drone thanks to automatic calibration according to the respective flight and operating conditions.
Using AI-supported target classification, the radar recognizes relevant objects in large amounts of data and thus reduces the data load for the ground stations.
Philippe Duhamel, Executive Vice President, Defense Mission Systems, Thales emphasizes: “We are delighted with this collaboration, which underlines the value of our AI expertise in radar technology. Combined with the innovative Skydweller MAPS platform, it marks a real technological breakthrough for future surveillance missions.”
