Thales is expanding its live training simulators: The introduction of a new drone training function enables armed forces to adapt to a constantly changing operational environment. Both allied and enemy drone scenarios can be trained for with the new function. This is intended to improve the effectiveness of operational readiness.
The drone-independent kit solution is compatible with drones in the C0-C6 and A1-A3 categories (from a few hundred grams to several dozen kilograms). Key features include a highly immersive simulation where each drone can be equipped with a kit containing sensors and displays to simulate the effects of drone neutralization and provide real-time feedback on the drone’s status during training exercises.
On the other hand, operational modularity is also an advantage. Drones can be equipped with transmitters to simulate loitering munitions (self-detonation) or armed drones (virtual release of explosive devices). The integrated data-supported training also makes it possible to automatically record all exercise data in order to carry out a debriefing and detailed analysis after the training.
“Drones are playing an increasingly critical role on the battlefield and it is vital to have training solutions that can accurately simulate these new threats. Thales’ new drone training capability provides an adaptable and reliable training experience that enables military personnel to effectively prepare for missions and confrontations with these devices,” said Benoit Broudy, Vice President of Training and Simulation Activities at Thales.
