Saab has received an order from the Japanese Self-Defense Forces (JGSDF) for the delivery of the Carl-Gustaf portable multi-role weapon system. The order comprises more than 300 systems, with delivery scheduled for 2025.

Carl-Gustaf is a portable multi-purpose weapon system that offers a high degree of tactical flexibility thanks to its wide range of ammunition types. It is suitable for fighting armored vehicles and structures as well as for illuminating the battlefield during night operations. The extremely lightweight weapon has been in service with the Japanese Self-Defense Forces since 1979. https://militaeraktuell.at/das-bundesheer-laedt-zur-grossen-leistungsschau-2024/ “This order is further proof that our Carl-Gustaf multi-role weapon system meets the high requirements of the Japanese Self-Defense Forces, and we look forward to continuing to support and strengthen their capabilities,” says Görgen Johansson, Head of Saab’s Dynamics business area.
