FMV (Försvarets materielverk, Swedish Armaments and Defense Technology Agency) has signed a contract with the supplier Astilleros Armon Vigo SA for the delivery of two new workboats. The new vessels will be delivered to the Swedish Armed Forces in 2027 and 2028 and will replace the “HMS Pelikanen” and “HMS Furusund”.
Torpedo recovery, various logistics tasks and underwater work are some of the tasks that the new boats will perform. In addition to the workboats, FMV is currently also procuring two other types of vessel: Harbor tugs and push boats. The push boats are intended for maintenance services at sea, while the harbor tugs, as the name suggests, are designed to guarantee smooth operations in the harbors. Four of these harbor tugs are to be delivered to the navy in the coming months.
