Will Europe soon have its own training center for the C-390M transport aircraft from Embraer? The Brazilian manufacturer and Rheinmetall are currently discussing this (-> Embraer and Rheinmetall inaugurate first C-390M simulator), the aim is to offer the growing number of customers for the C-390M a modern training infrastructure. The Austrian Armed Forces has also also decided to procure the transport aircraft and and could therefore be one of the beneficiaries of the new training facility.
There is currently an Embraer C-390M Training Center in Brazil with a Full Flight and Mission Simulator (FFMS) and a Loadmaster Training Station, where Brazilian, Portuguese and Hungarian air force crews complete their basic training. To facilitate the training of pilots, loadmasters, mechanics and other crew members of European countries, Embraer and Rheinmetall want to bring the training facilities closer to their current and future C-390 customers in Europe. “With the continued success of the C-390M across Europe, it is time to start evaluating and planning a European training center that will provide comprehensive training facilities for aircrew training and cargo operations,” clarified Timo Haas, CDO of Rheinmetall AG and Deputy CEO of Rheinmetall Electronics GmbH. https://militaeraktuell.at/das-bundesheer-stockt-seine-hilfskraefte-weiter-auf/ For Ayslan Anholon, Vice President for Flight Operations & Training, Embraer Services & Support, it is also clear: “We want to create the best conditions for our customers by offering them the best training in their class. We continuously monitor the network and evaluate customized solutions for each region as the fleet grows.”
Individual European countries have already begun to install their first training systems. The Portuguese Air Force, for example, has acquired an FFMS as part of its C-390M contract with Embraer, which will be installed at Beja Air Base in Portugal. The Royal Netherlands Air Force is also planning its own FFMS in the country.
