At the “Airpower 2024” US pilot Melanie “Mach” Kluesner (-> Interview with Militär Aktuell) from the F-35 Lightning II demo team of the US Air Force (-> current news about the US armed forces) for an impressive display. On the occasion of the mega air show, a total of four F-35s from the Vermont Air National Guard came to Hinterstoisser Air Base, where they will now be flying with the air forces of the Armed Forces and together with the Swiss Air Force (-> Eurofighter, F-35A and F/A-18 train together).
“Our upcoming training will strengthen international relations and ultimately benefit our national security and global stability,” said U.S. Air Force Colonel Michael Blair, 158th Operations Group Commander, in a recent press release from the Vermont National Air Guard.
Austria is the third partner country of the Vermont National Guard (-> US National Guard launches partnership with the Austrian Armed Forces) under the State Partnership Program, which links a state’s National Guard with a partner state’s military, security forces and emergency response organizations in a cooperative, mutually beneficial relationship.
“Our links under the State Partnership Program have proved very helpful in building strong, lasting relationships,” Blair is quoted as saying in the press release. “Training alongside the Austrian Air Force not only enhances tactical capabilities, promotes interoperability and military cooperation, but also deepens mutual respect and strengthens common goals with our European allies.” https://militaeraktuell.at/airpower-2024-geht-erfolgreich-zu-ende/ In June of last year, in the run-up to the major exercise initiated by the German Air Force major exercise “Air Defender 23” two F-35s from the Vermont National Air Guard for a joint training exercise with the air forces of the German Armed Forces (see picture above) came to Austria for the first time. The two fighter jets were accompanied by a C-17 Globemaster III transport aircraft.
