Following Empl’s recent delivery of 24 medium recovery vehicles on 42M 6×6 from Rheinmetall MAN Military Vehicles (RMMV) as well as 35 matching Quattro 4-axle trailers for the Austrian Armed Forces the vehicle body builder has now also announced the delivery and production of a total of 294 ambulance box bodies for the German Armed Forces announced.

According to Empl, the vehicles are “the first firmly ordered tranche of a framework agreement for 500 partially militarized and off-road trucks for patient transport”.

An Iveco Eurocargo MLL 150E 28 WS EURO VI mil 4×4 with 1,200 millimeter wading capability serves as the carrier vehicle for the UVT gl (unprotected off-road casualty transport vehicle) project. The fully insulated safety box body, with double-wing doors at the rear and side access, enables the temperature level to be maintained at a constant level and, with a standing height of 1,800 millimetres, offers an ergonomically comfortable working environment, as Empl explains on its Facebook page.

The interior design is state-of-the-art, largely based on a type C ambulance and enables the treatment of a patient requiring intensive care. A fully automated stretcher table enables a paramedic to carry all standard stretchers. A payload reserve of 4,500 kilograms also provides sufficient scope for future adaptations. According to Empl, the first vehicles are already being tested by the troops.
