Scania, Veho and Volvo are supplying Estonia and Latvia with more than 3,000 military vehicles. This was announced by the Estonian Defense Investment Center (ECDI). The vehicles will be ordered and delivered in installments. The contract term can be extended by another three years and the total value of the contract is 693 million euros, according to ECDI.

The procured vehicles can be divided into two categories: Vehicles with a payload of up to five tons and with more than five tons. The vehicles supplied include logistics vehicles designed for road use, as well as tactical vehicles that can be used off-road and on the road. The first deliveries will begin next year, with 400 vehicles scheduled for delivery in 2024. Swedish company Veho AS is supplying Mercedes G-Class trucks, which roll off the production line at Magna Steyr in Graz, and Atego trucks from Daimler Trucks in the payload class up to five tons. Volvo Defense, on the other hand, supplies the Forward Control Medium Xtreme heavy-duty truck in five different versions with a payload of more than five tons. The published photo from ECDI suggests that the Scania vehicles are a tractor unit, but exact information is not available. https://militaeraktuell.at/marine-alutech-kauft-wasserduesen-von-kongsberg/ “Until now, the Estonian Armed Forces were mostly equipped with vehicles previously used by the Allies, but due to the tightened security situation in Europe, these resources have been exhausted. Now, for the first time, we have the opportunity to order new vehicles for the Estonian Armed Forces exactly according to their needs,” said Erko Sepri, Strategic Category Manager at ECDI. His compatriot, Major Raigo Puusepp, Head of the Technology and Weapon Systems Department at EDF Headquarters, spoke of a turning point in the modernization of the EDF.
