General Dynamics European Land Systems (GDELS) has added a new variant to the Piranha family: the Piranha Heavy Mission Carrier (HMC). With a gross vehicle weight of up to 40 tons and a payload of 17 tons, the vehicle represents the upper end of the successful wheeled armoured vehicle family.

The vehicle features modern drive and suspension technology, such as the 10×10 all-wheel drive driveline and the unique multi-link suspension system with steering of the first, second, fourth and fifth axles. The design ensures minimum axle loads in accordance with European road traffic legislation, high off-road mobility and trench crossing capability, as well as a turning circle reduced to less than 18 meters. https://militaeraktuell.at/irans-grossangriff-auf-israel-gescheitert/ With the 10×10 Piranha Heavy Mission Carrier, the company is meeting the increasing demand for highly mobile platforms for ever more demanding mission profiles and the urgent requirements of NATO– and international customers for military mobility. “The Piranha HMC is a direct response to the payload and volume requirements of our global customer base for versatile and flexible missions such as direct and indirect fire, air defense and tactical bridge-laying capabilities,” said Thomas Kauffmann, GDELS Vice President for Global Sales & Services. “This unique platform is the result of our continued pursuit of innovative vehicle and propulsion technologies, together with 40 years of excellence and experience as a world-class vehicle manufacturer,” adds Giuseppe Chillari, GDELS Vice President Wheeled Vehicles & Managing Director GDELS-Mowag.
