European League of Football matches have been taking place in Austria from June 17 to August 26. The first of these games, Vienna Vikings versus Prague Lions, was played in the Generali Arena in Vienna Favoriten with the Austrian Armed Forces in attendance.
Defense Minister Klaudia Tanner and Brigadier Kurt Wagner, Military Commander of Vienna, cheered on the reigning champions during their home match to the thunderous accompaniment of the guard music. Interested visitors were also able to find out about the modern equipment of the Austrian Armed Forces at an exhibition in front of the stadium. Information officers also provided information on current security policy issues, military service, career opportunities in the armed forces, the various branches of the armed forces, current missions abroad and numerous other topics.
Sport and the armed forces
Sport is a particularly important matter for the armed forces, as a high level of physical fitness is essential for soldiers to perform their diverse tasks. The Army Sports Center therefore offered sports enthusiasts the opportunity to test their physical limits on an exercise course or at the “Bag Jump” under the guidance of top athletes. Anthems by the guard music
The “Drumline”, consisting of the drummers from the music academy and the guard music, ensured enthusiasm on the square with rhythmic drum beats and further heated up the atmosphere for the opening. Defense Minister Tanner handed the match ball to the referee in front of the Austrian football fan community. She thus opened the exciting and fast-paced spectacle. The guard music played the anthem of the visiting team from Prague and then the Austrian national anthem, sung by Ensign Maria Helienek. https://www.militaeraktuell.at/vorwaerts23-wiener-miliz-uebt-in-bruckneudorf/ The European League of Football
