This weekend, the voluntary antigen tests for the education sector will take place at 20 locations with a total of 47 test lanes. Over the past few days, the Austrian Armed Forces have been working with the province of Upper Austria, the cities and municipalities, the police, the Red Cross and the fire department to prepare for the tests. The deployment of over 500 soldiers and civilian employees of the Austrian Armed Forces and other helpers will ensure that everything runs smoothly.

“We are well prepared,” says military commander Brigadier Dieter Muhr. “If the country and the economy are to function, then the education sector must continue to operate first. That’s clear to everyone. And it is the test run for the subsequent major lockdown for the entire population. That’s why all the authorities, emergency organizations and volunteers are pulling together to make this possible. Our sincere thanks go to all of them.” “The antigen testing of teachers this weekend is an important step towards the reopening of schools. I would like to thank everyone involved in the organization and implementation – from the Austrian Armed Forces to the Red Cross and the Association of Municipalities and Towns. Finally, I would like to appeal to all teachers to take advantage of this offer. Only if as many people as possible get tested can we make schools a little safer,” emphasizes Deputy Governor Christine Haberlander.

Military Commander Brigadier Dieter Muhr: “The Austrian Armed Forces are preparing the mass tests in Linz professionally and quickly together with the city council and the cooperating rescue organizations to ensure that everything runs smoothly.”

“The Austrian Armed Forces, together with the municipal authorities and the cooperating rescue organizations, are preparing the mass tests in Linz professionally and quickly to ensure that everything runs smoothly. I would like to thank all the emergency services and dedicated employees who have managed this Herculean task within this short lead time. The good cooperation between the Upper Austrian Military Command and the City of Linz shows that everyone pulls together in a crisis if necessary, and I would like to express my thanks to everyone involved,” said Mayor and District Governor Klaus Luger. “The greatest possible unity and combined cooperation of all forces is the basic prerequisite for the handling of such a major project. The past few days have impressively demonstrated that the cooperation between the city of Linz and the Upper Austrian military command goes hand in hand. The Armed Forces are supporting the City of Linz in the handling of the test kits and in the organizational implementation. I would like to express my sincere thanks to everyone involved,” emphasizes City Councillor Michael Raml, Head of the Department of Health and Safety. The voluntary antigen tests will take place at the 20 test stations on Saturday and Sunday from 8.00 am to 8.00 pm. Registration takes place via an online registration platform provided by the Ministry of Education. Registration for the test should take place in the district of residence. For the actual antigen test, you must bring the routing slip generated via the internet registration, an official photo ID and tissues. Once the test has been completed, the result will be sent by email or text message, so there is no need to wait at the test station. The Austrian Armed Forces do not carry out PCR tests.
