Since November 23, 2020, a total of 80 soldiers from Command Support Battalion 1 from Villach have been serving in Upper Austria. They were officially bid farewell today by Upper Austria’s military commander Dieter Muhr.

In his speech, Muhr emphasized the commitment of the Austrian Armed Forces and its soldiers to the Austrian population. No matter what the mission is, whether it is securing the borders, coping with a disaster or supporting the authorities in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic, the army is always ready to fulfill the orders given, said Muhr.

Military commander Brigadier Dieter Muhr thanked the Carinthian soldiers.

The soldiers who said goodbye today were deployed specifically in contact person management at the National Service Center. They spoke to people on the phone in order to trace their contacts with infected persons. In his thanks to the soldiers, the military commander said, “No matter what came or may come, we have got it and will get it! Kemmst guat hoam and all the best for your future,” concluded Muhr. The withdrawal of the Carinthian soldiers was necessary as their basic military service ends in a few days. Their replacements – also from Carinthia – are already on their way and will be deployed on February 2.
