The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense has Rheinmetall to supply eight additional rescue stations to the country’s armed forces. The procurement is being carried out as part of the German federal government’s upgrade initiative, with delivery scheduled to begin this year and be completed by the end of 2026. According to Rheinmetall, the order has a value in the mid double-digit million euro range.

The order includes eight turnkey systems equipped with state-of-the-art medical technology, including an X-ray container, an operating theater and an intensive care unit on a par with a modern hospital. Rheinmetall is also supplying a mobility component consisting of three trucks from the Rheinmetall MAN Military Vehicles (RMMV) trucks and trailers. https://militaeraktuell.at/niederlande-jassm-er-raketen-lockheed-martin/ Armin Papperger, Chairman of the Executive Board of Rheinmetall AG, commented on the new order: “Rheinmetall’s medical care facilities are highly mobile, can be deployed very quickly and are of the highest quality. This new order confirms that our first deliveries to Ukraine in the field of medical technology have proven their worth. We are pleased to be able to use our capabilities to make an important contribution to the medical care of the Ukrainian armed forces.” In addition to the delivery of the rescue stations, a one-week training course in Germany is planned each year for the relevant Ukrainian personnel. Already in September 2023, Rheinmetall had already supplied Ukraine with a mobile field hospital (NATO Role 2 standard) with 32 patient beds – including eight intensive care beds. At that time, ten Ukrainian soldiers also initially completed a 14-day training course in the assembly, dismantling, transportation and operation of the hospital in Germany. Rheinmetall also supplied two two rescue stations of the type currently on order at the end of 2023 and beginning of 2024.

“The new order confirms that our first deliveries to Ukraine in the field of medical technology have proven their worth.

The container-based rescue stations for mounted operation are also known as “Forward Surgical Teams” (FST). They each consist of six containers: five of them are connected to each other when in operation and include a reception and triage area, an X-ray shelter, an operating theater preparation area, an operating theater shelter and an intensive care unit. The supply container with power generator and water tanks can supply the system independently for more than 48 hours. Rheinmetall relies on the expertise of renowned German manufacturers in the field of medical technology. The FSTs are intended for use close to the front (-> Current news from the war in Ukraine) in order to perform life-sustaining measures on the severely wounded and stabilize the patients within the shortest possible time.
