Nexter, a KNDS company, and Safran Electronics & Defense have been awarded a contract by the French Armaments Agency (DGA) to modernize the sights of the Leclerc tank (Leclerc XLR). The “observation function” of the Leclerc XLR is to be improved, in particular thanks to the PASEO sight.
The two new sights are for the tank commander on the one hand and the gunner on the other. They can be used to detect, identify and aim at objects several kilometers away. https://militaeraktuell.at/gdels-steyr-225-neue-pandur-fuer-das-bundesheer/ During the upgrade, the optronic core of the weapon system will be digitized and the analogue video system replaced by a digital one. The gunner’s sight will be modernized with optronic sensors and the commander’s sight will be replaced with a PASEO sight designed for all-round observation and engagement. OPT-Sys, also a KNDS company, is supplying the digital monocular for the commander’s telescopic sight, which forms the interface between the tank commander and the PASEO sight.
