The shot that hit the deceased conscript was fired from the service pistol of a guard soldier. Both are members of the Carinthia Military Command and both come from the district of Spittal an der Drau. A military psychologist is working with a crisis intervention team in the barracks to support the family and affected persons. The Carinthia Provincial Police Directorate is conducting the investigation and the circumstances of the incident are also being investigated by an accident commission of the Carinthia Military Command.
