In mid-October, the Thai Air Force (RTAF) signed a support contract with Diehl Defense for the Iris-T missile system. This continues a long-standing and successful cooperation between the two parties.

The RTAF already uses Gripen, F-16 and F-5 fighter aircraft, which are already armed with Iris-T guided missiles from Diehl Defence. The contract, which has now been signed in Germany, is intended to further improve the RTAF’s capabilities for operating Iris-T across its entire fleet. It includes support for integration, firing trials and technical and logistical support. https://militaeraktuell.at/naval-group-seetests-amiral-ronarch-beginnen/ According to a Diehl Defence press statement, the RTAF is thus “taking a step ahead and demonstrating its exceptional ability to integrate and certify new armaments into its existing fleet following the successful integration of Iris-T into its F-5 TH fleet”. For the German company, this agreement is a further step in expanding the use of Iris-T to other platforms. It is a 5th generation short-range air-to-air missile that is fully integrated into Eurofighter Typhoon, Gripen, F-16, EF-18, F-5 and Tornado jets. The missile is also currently being integrated into the KF-21 fighter aircraft from Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI).
