Recently, the Swedish Defense Materiel Administration (FMV) and Saab recently signed a contract for the delivery of a third GlobalEye airborne early warning and surveillance aircraft. The contract is worth around 230 million euros and the aircraft will be delivered by 2029.
The order is based on an option included in the June 2022 contract between Saab and FMV, which includes two GlobalEye aircraft and options for the procurement of two additional aircraft. “We are proud to contribute to the defense of Sweden with another GlobalEye aircraft. The system provides unique situational awareness of the environment as well as the capability for early detection and warning of potential threats in the air, at sea or on land,” said Micael Johansson, President and CEO of Saab. https://militaeraktuell.at/bundesheer-uh-60m-black-hawk-detail/ The GlobalEye system is an advanced multi-domain Airborne Early Warning & Control (AEW&C) solution with a range of active and passive sensors that provide long-range detection and identification of objects in the air, at sea and over land. By providing real-time information to Air Force, Army and Navy units, GlobalEye enables enhanced situational awareness of the environment and early threat detection. The system can also be used for non-military tasks such as directing and coordinating rescue operations in the event of natural disasters or major accidents at sea or on land.
