On Friday, a total of 190 recruits pledged allegiance to the Republic of Austria in bright sunshine in the municipality of Puchenau in the Urfahr-Umgebung district.
The Puchenau band and the Upper Austrian military band provided the musical backdrop to the ceremony. Numerous guests, friends and family members as well as representatives of public life paid tribute to the young men and women with their attendance.
Governor Thomas Stelzer, military commander Brigadier Dieter Muhr and Mayor Friedrich Geyerhofer thanked the recruits for their willingness to serve their country, especially in these troubled times.
After the swearing-in ceremony, there was a concert by the military band and the opportunity to get a taste of the military kitchen.
The military music recruits played in public for the first time since the start of basic training, and at their own swearing-in ceremony.
The soldiers from the August and September enlistment dates, all of whom had enlisted in Hörsching with the Staff Company and Service Operations of the Upper Austrian Military Command or as cadre candidates with Armored Staff Battalion 4, were sworn in.
