Survitec has been awarded a contract to supply its survival technology for five Type 31 frigates being built by Babcock for the Royal Navy. Under the terms of the agreement, Survitec will manufacture and supply four 100-person life rafts and four 25-person life rafts for each ship. The contract also includes the supply of six safety nets and ladders for each vessel.

The contract with Babcock is valid until 2028, as the construction of these five ships also extends until 2028. The Type 31 frigates are multi-purpose vessels that will strengthen the UK’s maritime defense capabilities and will be deployed alongside destroyers and aircraft carriers.
