In addition to their sporting successes, Corporal Marlene Pribitzer and Platoon Leader Bernhard Pickl successfully completed their Bachelor’s degree in Sport and Event Management at Seeburg Private University in the fall.
The final thesis of a degree course is comparable to a training plan. The first step is to define a goal – in this case, to find an interesting topic and analyze several ideas for their feasibility, scope and other points. I enjoyed the discussion with the two of them, and the chosen topics from the world of shooting made me curious. Marlene’s aim was to take a closer look at “The dual role of parents as coaches in elite sport using the example of sport shooting” . Bernhard, a competitive army athlete stationed in Rif, chose “The ‘Youth to Sport’ campaign – an effectiveness and efficiency analysis using the example of sport shooting.” As with a sports training plan, a schedule was drawn up and a periodization carried out – from the basic work, the literature analysis and the basic material to answering the research questions. The “form curve” was checked regularly, critical questions were asked and feedback was given. After fine-tuning, the highlight of the season, the submission of the papers, followed in the fall. The two projects can certainly be “initial sparks”
How can a “Youth to Sport” campaign for the field of sport shooting be better tailored to the needs and expectations of young people? In such a way that young people can at least find their way to the clubs more easily and are picked up well. How can the campaign also be used by the ÖBH, the HLSZ in Rif? The dual role of parents and coaches is not only found in elite sport. Parents often take on this role in clubs in particular. What content can be incorporated into the training or further education of trainers, instructors and coaches? In a form that offers “low-threshold” access. Concrete work on these areas would be topics for further Bachelor’s/Master’s theses. Marlene and Bernhard, congratulations on your achievement! I hope you already have ideas for the next step in your career after your sporting goals.
