On Wednesday evening, the Jäger battalion invited 17 representatives from politics, business, the military and authorities as well as friends and patrons of the association to the spring reception in the Straß barracks.

In addition to Brigade Commander Christian Habersatter and a delegation from the German partner association from Marienberg, the host, Lieutenant Colonel Georg Pilz, also welcomed the members of the Styrian Parliament Bernadette Kerschler, Helga Kügerl and Gerald Holler.

One of the main focuses of the past year was the continued testing of the Pandur Evolution armored personnel carrier as well as basic military service and cadre candidate training. In his review, Pilz also mentioned the exemplary deployment of his soldiers to combat the pandemic and as part of the security police assistance mission/migration. In 2021, Straßer soldiers were deployed abroad from Bosnia-Herzegovina to Mali in West Africa, 4,500 kilometers away. The unit covered 620,000 kilometers with its vehicles, 4,800 patients received outpatient care in the troop medical station and more than 100,000 lunches were prepared in the troop kitchen last year. With many impressions and a busy outlook for the coming months, the reception came to a comradely end with a snack.
