Schiebel Pacifik together with Wedgetail Aerospace, has received approval from the Australian Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) to operate the Camcopter S-100 Unmanned Air System (UAS) in civil airspace. It is the first large (weight greater than 150 kilograms) Vertical Takeoff and Landing (VTOL) UAS to receive this civil certification from the Australian authorities.
The certification process was completed with a series of flight demonstrations in Western Australia. The S-100 can now be operated in Australian airspace. Potential applications for the Camcopter include fire and disaster response, cargo transport, inspection and surveillance. https://militaeraktuell.at/berufssoldaten-trainieren-am-gefechtssimulator/ “This is an important milestone for Schiebel Pacific and its Australian RPAS operations. The CASA approval enables us to offer the outstanding capabilities of the S-100 system to the civil sector. With strong local partners, our many years of experience in operating the S-100 and now with CASA approval, we are very well positioned for the Australian market,” said Fabian Knechtl, Managing Director of Schiebel Pacific. Wedgetail Aerospace is a CASA-approved training organization and will offer an S-100 license for civil operations. The S-100 is already in service with the Royal Australian Navy. It received approval for operation from the Defense Aviation Safety Agency (DASA) back in 2017.
