This week, the Salzburg Military Command hosted the divisional shooting championships at the Glanegg shooting range. The Salzburg soldiers determined the best shooters with the 77 assault rifle and the 80 pistol in a comradely competition.
When shooting with the 77 assault rifle, ten shots are fired first in six minutes, followed by a rapid-fire series of ten shots in just one minute at the target 200 meters away. Vice-Lieutenant Johannes W. took the 2020 championship title with 193 rings, five rings ahead of second-placed Amtsdirektor Johann W. Staff Sergeant Sylvia S. secured her title with 184 rings. The 80 pistol was shot at a distance of 25 meters. The pistol shooters’ victory went to the district director Johann W. with 95 rings, just two rings ahead of the runner-up, senior staff sergeant Michael L. Staff sergeant Sylvia S. secured her title with 95 rings.
In the team competition, four competitors had to start together and fire ten quick shots after a run of 200 meters. The top favorites, Vice-Lieutenant Albert T., Vice-Lieutenant Johannes W., Deputy Officer Franz D. and Staff Sergeant Roman W., took victory with 375 rings. Second place went to the team from the Buchberg Army Ammunition Plant with 358 rings and third place went to the team from Pioneer Battalion 2 with 331 rings.
