The Swedish defense contractor Saab has received an order from the NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA) for Bolide missiles for its RBS 70 shoulder-launched short-range surface-to-air missile system. The contract is worth 31.3 million euros and deliveries are expected to take place in 2027.

“The NSPA order shows that NATO countries are still interested in our missile systems. This order is proof of their confidence in our knowledge and in the RBS 70 system,” says Görgen Johansson, Head of Saab’s Dynamics business area. https://militaeraktuell.at/das-bundesheer-zieht-starke-2023er-bilanz/ The RBS 70 system is deployed in more than 19 countries, with 1,600 RBS 70 systems and more than 18,000 missiles delivered. The Bolide missile is the third generation of Saab anti-aircraft missiles for all targets and short ranges. With the Bolide missile, the RBS 70 system targets a full spectrum of threats: from fixed and rotary wing aircraft to small targets such as cruise missiles and UAVs, with a range of more than nine kilometers and an altitude coverage of over 5,000 meters.
