Saab will be presenting a new deployment set configuration for its Giraffe 1X radar for the first time at DSEI in London next week.
The new configuration is designed to be easily transportable, quick to deploy and rapidly deployable: all qualities that are highly desirable on a modern battlefield or where air threats from all directions pose a real danger to fixed installations. The Giraffe 1X Deployment Set is an easily deployable, compact and robust, software-based, lightweight 3D AESA radar. Its small footprint and large search volume (75 kilometers) make it ideal for rapid deployments with limited capabilities. https://militaeraktuell.at/kommandouebergabe-beim-militaerkommando-kaernten/ “The Giraffe 1X Deployment Set provides an immediate aerial image after deployment. We are constantly working to give the emergency services more time to act – and with the new system we are doing just that,” says Carl-Johan Bergholm, Head of Surveillance at Saab. According to Saab, Giraffe 1X provides “high-quality air defense target data, drone detection for UAS defense and sense-and-warn functions for missiles, artillery and mortars”.
