RUAG Ammotec has decided to reintroduce the MFS (Mátravidéki Fémművek Sirok – Matra Metalworks Sirok) brand as the mainstay of the dynamic expansion of its Army & Government business unit with NATO standard small caliber ammunition.

With the relaunch, the company says it wants to “offer first-class ammunition to military and government customers in Europe and Asia”. The brand stands for “quality and reliable ammunition based on proven manufacturing and business practices”. To enable ongoing improvements, RUAG Ammotec has invested in new capacities and new NATO calibers. MFS manufactures ammunition to C.I.P., NATO, former Soviet Union and Russian standards. “We are reintroducing the MFS brand to differentiate between the two market segments of army/government and hunting/sport,” says Richard Somogyi, General Manager at MFS. “With our new look, we will offer high-quality specialized calibers at attractive prices. This vision fills us with enthusiasm and a pioneering spirit,” he adds.

Production takes place at the traditional site in Sirok, Hungary.

MFS is based on the heritage and know-how of the Hungarian ammunition manufacturer “Magyar Fegyver és Lőszergyár Inc”, which dates back to 1881. The successor company “Mátravidéki Fémművek Ltd” was founded in 1952 in Sirok, Hungary. In the 1950s, it primarily supplied the Hungarian military and police organizations with ammunition. With the help of a further investment in the factory, the production of new types of ammunition for the sports and hunting market was started in the late 1950s under the brand name “MFS”. The company exported its products to more than 70 countries. Another milestone was the takeover of the factory and the brand name by RUAG Ammotec in 2009. Following the takeover, the company was integrated into RUAG’s Swiss and German organizations. New technologies and processes were introduced to supply the Group’s premium brands with pistol and revolver ammunition.
