The Vehicle Systems Division of Rheinmetall Dutch subsidiary Rheinmetall Defence Nederland B.V. has acquired 100 percent of the shares in the Dutch start-up company REEQ. Rheinmetall is thus expanding its portfolio of light tactical vehicles and also taking the step towards hybrid technology with a fully electric powertrain in a military vehicle. Both parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price.

REEQ, founded in 2018, has developed a new generation of mobility with its vehicles that combines tactical transportation with a mobile energy source (microgrid) and is fully prepared for autonomy. In its founding year, REEQ carried out its first innovation project in the field of electromobility in the military sector on behalf of the Dutch Ministry of Defense. The technology was developed in the Netherlands and is also produced there. https://militaeraktuell.at/schweden-kauft-bei-gdels-bridge-systems-bruecken/ REEQ’s vehicle portfolio currently consists of an Unmanned Ground Vehicle (UGV), a side-by-side buggy and a quad, all three with exactly the same all-electric drivetrain. Through the acquisition, Rheinmetall can now serve the Dutch and European market in the field of light tactical mobility – both manned and unmanned – in combination with a microgrid. Within the Rheinmetall Group, REEQ retains its status as a start-up in the field of development. Further development and series production of the vehicles will also continue to take place in the Netherlands.
