Rheinmetall is continuing to perfect its innovative Gladius 2.0 soldier system and has now entered into a partnership with QUS Body Connected from Austria in the area of vital data tracking. The aim is to jointly develop solutions in this area.
The advantages are manifold: vital data live tracking allows training units to be adapted during training to ensure optimum fitness development. During deployment, up-to-date information on the physical condition of the individual soldier or the entire unit is available – important for further tactical decisions. This is particularly important for the soldier’s survival in current, complex deployment scenarios under difficult conditions.
“Bio monitoring, as we know it from competitive sports, will also play an important role for the soldier in the future in order to optimize operational capability.

Timo Haas, CDO der Rheinmetall AG
“QUS with its established system already meets many requirements that are relevant for successful integration into soldier systems,” as stated in a recent Rheinmetall press release. “It can therefore be easily integrated and massively expand the functional scope of soldier systems.” “We are very pleased about the new partnership with Rheinmetall. Together we will develop a system that can be perfectly integrated into Rheinmetall’s system and thus create additional added value in this area. Knowing and being able to assess the vital data of soldiers at all times is very important for their performance,” says Hannes Steiner, QUS CEO & Founder. https://militaeraktuell.at/spotter-tages-packages-fuer-die-airpower-gewinnen/ Timo Haas, Chief Digital Officer (CDO) of Rheinmetall AG and Managing Director of Rheinmetall Electronics GmbH: “Bio monitoring, as we know it from competitive sports, will also play an important role for soldiers in the future in order to optimize their operational capability. For us as a system house, the QUS solution offers a suitable component in our modular soldier system. And with a view to digitalization, AI data can make an important contribution to tactical decisions at higher command levels.”
“The joint solution with Rheinmetall combines the best of both worlds and, above all, protects those who protect us.
”
Hannes Steiner, QUS CEO & Gründer
The joint solution from QUS and Rheinmetall as part of the partnership will unite everything to do with body data and exploit its full potential. The ability to combine already proven sensors (heart rate, respiratory rate) with other third-party sensors (such as temperature) enables a new basis for tactical decisions based on knowledge of the current condition of those involved. “The fusion of this data with tactical information represents a new dimension of information superiority with regard to one’s own troops,” the Rheinmetall statement continues, “and will not only improve the performance of soldiers, but also the command and control process.” The credo of the new partnership: “Protect those who protect us.”
Hannes Steiner: “The joint solution with Rheinmetall combines the best of both worlds and, above all, protects those who protect us. Vital data tracking using textile sensor technology, which is integrated into the equipment, offers an important additional benefit and provides support on the way to becoming the infantryman of the future.”
