On December 12, Panzerbrigade 21 “Lipperland” will officially end its enhanced Vigilance Activities (eVA) mission with effect from December 31 as part of a roll call in Rukla, Lithuania. The commander of the field army of the German Armed ForcesLieutenant General Harald Gante, will hand over responsibility for the follow-up mission Forward Land Forces (FLF) Brigade to Panzergrenadierbrigade 37 “Freistaat Sachsen”.
It is the brigade with the highest operational readiness of the army and is ready to deploy to Lithuania at any time in Germany until Panzerbrigade 45 is fully operational. https://militaeraktuell.at/2025-bundesheer-plant-33-auslandsuebungen/ 2024 Panzerbrigade 21 from Augustdorf was tasked with providing the additional reassurance promised by Germany to the Baltic state. Over the course of the year, it was deployed with around 2,000 soldiers as a deterrent on NATO’s eastern flank. Numerous exercises characterized this commitment and demonstrated the close alliance with the NATO-allies.
“Our mission not only contributed to Lithuania’s sense of security, but also significantly strengthened our own capabilities,” says Brigadier General Marco Eggert, Commander of Panzerbrigade 21. The experience in complex road marches over sea, air and land proved to be particularly valuable. The deployments always began at the home bases in Germany and continued all the way to Lithuania. In total, around 2,000 kilometers were covered in each case. These marches with various combat vehicles, such as the Boxer armored transport vehicle (GTK), formed the basis for demanding combat exercises, some of which were carried out in the field or at the Lithuanian Pabradé military training area.
