Northrop Grumman Corporation recently delivered the first Integrated Battle Command System (IBCS), an Integrated Collaborative Environment (ICE), to the US Army. Additional products are scheduled to be delivered in the first half of 2024 to support the Army’s modernization plan. Northrop Grumman is also providing logistics support for the IBCS equipment.
The ICE is a modular shelter protected against electromagnetic interference that houses battle management workstations that enable fighter aircraft to conduct air and missile defense planning and defensive operations. Upcoming product deliveries include the Engagement Operation Centers and the Integrated Fire Control Network relays.
Rebecca Torzone, vice president and general manager of Combat Systems and Readiness at Northrop Grumman, said, “Northrop Grumman is working on an accelerated delivery schedule because the U.S. Army and its allies understand the power of IBCS and how it will revolutionize their own behavior on the battlefield.”
IBCS is one of the cornerstones of the army’s air and missile defence modernization strategy. It is able to quickly network any sensor, including field and development radars, with the respective shooter and provide fire control data via common networks, as has already been shown in several successful tests and demonstrations.
