The new Integrated Battle Command System (IBCS) from Northrop Grumman has achieved “initial operational capability” status with the US Army. This means that the system can now be delivered to US Army units for the first time following the start of series production.
The IBCS is an essential cornerstone of the Army’s current modernization efforts to replace the various current air and missile defence command and control systems with a single system. It is based on a modular, open and scalable architecture that integrates the data available in the battlefield into a common, integrated fire control network – regardless of source, service or area. The architecture also enables efficient and cost-effective integration of future systems in addition to current systems. https://militaeraktuell.at/rheinmetall-man-bis-zu-1-375-lkw-fuer-das-bundesheer/ “Because of its open architecture and ability to integrate sensors from multiple domains, IBCS enables faster selection of the best defense option in the event of an incoming threat,” said Rebecca Torzone, vice president and general manager, Combat Systems and Mission Readiness at Northrop Grumman. “With its mature, proven and operationally ready capabilities, IBCS will significantly expand and enhance the battlefield for the U.S. and its allies.” The move to provide multi-domain capabilities for combat operations follows the recent approval of the program for series production.
